S.D. Shibulal is co-founder, member of the Board of Directors of Infosys and is Worldwide Head of Customer Sales & Delivery. Shibulal received a master´s degree in Physics from the University of Kerala and an MS in Computer Science from the University of Boston. She is an ardent teacher, a social worker. Chosen as the Bangalore´s woman of the year by Radio City FM91, she has been a striking example for many women playing a pivotal role in their life. She has been very actively channelising her energies and resources through Infosys Foundation for the upliftment of society. She has initiated an ingenious movement whereby all government schools in the Karnataka state can avail computer & library facilities. She wrote, “I am proud of you. Your pioneering spirit is commendable. It’s still alive in my mind how you missed in Los Angeles. I look forward to your students winning what you missed”. The Foundation has already sponsored one student of U.S.H.A.

She is involved in Women’s issues, especially those related to the girl child,which are closest to her heart. Apart from the Infosys Foundation, Ms Gopalakrishnan is also a trustee of Pratiksha, which she and husband Gopalakrishnan S. started, to work in the areas of education and health.

Competitive sports and athletics are pushing the performance of the human body beyond its limits. Time and resources spent on producing a quality athlete today is enormous. Breaking of world records is the proof that human body is evolving and is becoming a faster, efficient, healthier species. Medical science is keeping pace with the needs of the athletes in competitive sports. Usha´s athletic school is helping children to be part of the human desire to achieve peak performance in athletics. During the formation of athletes special attention is given to their nutrition, education, personal hygiene, mental health in addition to their physical fitness. We have a dedicated sport injury clinic and team of doctors, which includes paediatrics, experts in nutritional medicine, sports medicine, sports traumatology and orthopaedics. Dr. Schiller Jose MBBS. D.ortho. D.U. Sports Traumatology (Paris) and Consultant orthopaedic surgeon leads the team of experts offering voluntary service to the school. A great importance is given to keeping track of the performance of each individual and frequent monitoring of their health parameters that are all meticulously documented. It has also to be mentioned that Usha´s personal involvement in the day-to-day activities of the school has greatly helped the young athletes.

Rythm Foundation Sponsors 5 Usha School Athletes
We are glad to inform you that The Usha School of Athletics has entered into an agreement with Malaysia based Rythm Foundation Limited (c/o Vijayaratnam Foundation) for sponsoring 5 of our junior athletes for 3 years. The agreement period runs from 1st September 2018 to 31st August 2021.
This generous support for the Usha School from Rythm Foundation is much appreciated as it takes care of a big chunk of our financial needs.
Rythm Foundation is a charitable organisation dedicated to educate, inspire and work with others to create a brighter future for those in need. The RYTHM Foundation’s mission is to promote strategic and sustainable development of communities in need through social investment, fundraising and grant-making.
The Vijayaratnam Foundation is the Malaysian chapter of The RYTHM Foundation.
The 5 athletes sponsored by Rythm Foundation are Elga Thomas (age 15), Prathibha Varghese (age 14), Angel Silvia (age 16), Sharika Sunilkumar (age 12) and Mayukha Vinod (age12). All of them are very promising athletes. The sponsorship will cover all expenses of the 5 athletes such as for sports facility, food, accommodation, conveyance, education, medical care etc.
Great News! Petroleum Sports Promotion Board Support for Usha School of Athletics.
In an absolutely wonderful development, The Petroleum Sports Control Board (PSPB) has agreed to offer financial assistance to the Usha School of Athletics for the next 5 years. An agreement to this effect was signed December 2018 whereby PSPB will contribute Rs 10 lakhs per year for the next 5 years towards training, boarding, nutrition, education etc of the athletes/trainees in the academy.
The PSPB has also provided a one-time grant of Rs. 8 lakhs to the Usha School of Athletics towards upgradation of the existing mud track at the academy campus.
This is a big shot in the arm for USHA as PSPB is a highly regarded name in the country’s sports scene and has a huge legacy of supporting genuine sports initiatives. Established in 1979, PSPB’s objective is to encourage, develop, control, supervise, regulate, co-ordinate and organise various sports and games.
